Will of Stephen
Pynde Charing 1539
In the name of
god amen the 5th day of the month of April in the year of our lord god 1539
I Stephen Pynde of the parish of Charing in the county of Kent whole of mind
and of good rememberance thanked be almighty god make and declare this my testament
and last will in manner and form following first I give and bequeath my soul
to almighty god to the intercession and prayer of our blessed lady saint mary
the virgin and of all the holy company of saints in heaven and my body to be
buried in such place within the church of Charing as my son shall think most
convenient Item I give and bequeath to the high altar of the church of Charing
20s 8p to the high altarof the church of East Sutton 20 pence Item I will that
my exuctors do cause an honest priest to sing for my soul within the church
of Charing by the space of one year and a half Item that my excutor cause an
honest priest to sing for my soul my brothers souls and all christian souls
in the church of East Sutton by the space of a whole year Item I give and bequeath
to daughter in law a rug and my best silver spoon Item to every other of my
children one silver spoon Item I give and bequeath to the reparacone of the
church of Charing 6s 8p Item to John Usmer of East Sutton 6s 4p Item to John
Clerk of Charing 20p the residue of my goods my debts paid and this my present
testament fulfilled I give and bequaeth to Robert my son which Robert I ordain
institute and make executor of this my present testament and last will these
being my witnesses Henry Marshal clerk vicar of Charing aforesaid Henry Yorke
Robert Badcok and John Wright of the same with others.
